East London Line Capacity Enhancements for Linbrooke Design Services (now Q1TM
Transport for London is working to increase capacity on the East London line stretch of London Overground. Works are underway to increase frequencies from the current 16 trains per hour (tph) to 18tph, with further funding to improve this further to 20tph in the future. As part of the programme of enhancements, a new train stabling facility shall be provided at New Cross and a new Surry Canal station shall be opened.
Prime Rail Engineering was engaged by Linbrooke Design Services Ltd (now Q1TM) to provide signalling design deliverables (design and independent verification) to support the GRIP4 submissions required for the enhancements. The works required alterations to some existing SSI interlockings. Our engineer’s SSI proficiency proved invaluable in devising the appropriate engineering solutions.
Prime’s engineers liaised with stakeholders throughout (including end client) to ensure a robust engineering solution was developed that met all stakeholder requirements and expectations. Our engineers were also happy to provide some guidance and advice to the project team regarding engineering deliverables outside of our work scope. Prime took ownership of the following signalling deliverables from production, through to independent verification, CRE update and TfL client acceptance:
- GRIP4 Interlocking Data Development Plans (x2)
- GRIP4 Signalling Interface Specification
